Loop: What NOT to do!
Don’t let that nose shadow run into the lower cheek shadow…

This is what Loop SHOULD look like:

Butterfly:
- make sure the shadow is centered directly under the nose
- and use a bounce card to fill that shadow under the neck

Chiaroscuro:
- point light source
- defined by strong/contrasty shadows
- many different ways of doing it
- you could use venetian blinds or grids or cut shapes in cardboard and shine the light through… snoots, you get the idea.
I only took this sample image of Wayne setting up:

I hope this helps Hannah!
Samples of: Rembrandt & Butterfly

The focus is on the lighting. So these have to be SOOC for the most part (it’s okay to remove dust and fibers).

4×5 ISO 100 Polaroid
I wish I’d scanned these in at school instead.
But anyhow, here’s the best I could do
photographing the Polaroid’s with my XTi.

High key glass-wear.

Low key glass-wear.

Low key dark bottle.

Flat-wear using shineflug.
